Dr Ken Siddle

I am pleased to be standing as the Liberal Democrat candidate in the Ward where I have lived for the last 20 years in the lovely village of Wing. Until my recent retirement I spent most of my working life teaching and carrying out medical research at Cambridge University. I am deeply committed to local community action: I have served as a Parish Councillor in the past and am currently active on the steering group developing a Neighbourhood Plan for Wing. I have a lifetime's experience of administration and committee work in universities and a special interest in education, health and the environment. As a Liberal Democrat I believe strongly in open and transparent local government and meaningful engagement of local residents in the development of Council policy. On current issues, I am opposed to the proposals for development of the St George's Barracks site. I want to see a pause to enable full engagement with the people of Rutland, followed by better design of the site and its infrastructure, limiting the scale, respecting neighbouring communities and benefiting the whole county. I will strive to develop a strong and sustainable Rutland economy fit for the 21stcentury.
