I am a Whissendine resident who believes that the local ward councillor should live in the ward they represent and actively promote the interests, firstly within both the villages of Whissendine and Teigh with honesty and transparency and secondly the best outcomes for the wider community of Rutland.

My experience to take on this important role for our community is, that I have been:

  • a Previously elected County Councillor for the Whissendine Ward with existing relationships with council stakeholders
  • an elected town councillor for 8yrs working with residents and council officers
  • a voluntary Royal British Legion caseworker for ex-service personnel and their families having served in HM Forces for over 25yrs
  • a youth mentor for Children at Risk of harm.

I believe that Party politics should not be an issue at our local level, it should be about representing the whole community that they represent, and not their own interests. Kevin Thomas
