The European Movement International (EMI) is a cross-party pan-Europe organisation. The UK member (EMUK) was set up in 1949 by Sir Winston Churchill. The Leicestershire and Rutland branch was founded a few years ago. EMUK has mainly worked with People's Vote for the last few years but now we are back to simply being the European Movement.

Currently our main campaign is to try to obtain an extension to the Article 50 Transition Period before the end of June 2020 or it will most likely be too late. The extension could last until the end of 2022 but would stop if a deal was reached before then.

We believe that currently the government should focus on the Covid-19 crisis (which they are handling badly) rather than on a rushed bad deal with the EU or encouraging a disastrous 'WTO' Brexit.

We have left the EU and Brexit has been 'done' so this is not about Remainers and Leavers anymore but about the health of our nation's people as well as its economy.

In June we shall have a virtual AGM which members and supporters are welcome to join.

You might also want to send hand-written letters to your MP to say how you feel.
