Cut Bills with Local energy

May 3, 2022 10:42 AM
By Keith Melton

PV PanelsNewark and Sherwood Lib Dems are calling on N&S District Council to support the Local Electricity Bill. This would empower our community to buy and sell locally generated electricity. Local Lib Dem, Keith Melton, is leading the campaign to support the Bill. Keith says, "Putin`s War of Aggression has shown us that we need to move away from our addiction to fossil fuels for strategic reasons in addition to the need to limit global overheating!"

There is so much potential for energy to be generated locally with e.g. solar panels on factory roofs. But red tape, forcing potential suppliers to pay a premium to the National Grid, makes it unnecessarily difficult to do so. Locally produced energy would help keep down energy bills for PV Panels on a Factory Roof local people, with much lower prices and potential profit-share arrangements.

By freeing up Councils, Community Groups and Charities to deliver low cost energy we can help tackle the cost of living crisis as well as reducing our dependence on fossil fuels.
