David Watts

Our parliamentary candidate is David Watts, a local solicitor and environmentalist. David was first elected as a local councillor in 1999 and apart from a break between 2015 and 2019 he has been a councillor ever since. He has been a member of the Liberal Democrats since the party was founded back in the 1980’s and has contested the Newark parliamentary seat for us previously.

David trained at the Universities of Huddersfield, Leicester and Leeds as well as the College of Law in London. He has worked for firms in and around Nottinghamshire since 1997 and has been with his current employers since 2016.

David is the editor of Challenge, the journal of the Green Liberal Democrats. The Green Liberal Democrats are the environmental arm of the Liberal Democrats, and Challenge is their flagship publication. David is driven by his desire to create a cleaner and greener world. He was an early adopter of electric cars and strives each year to have a net zero carbon footprint.
